I’m slowly going through the wee dress patterns I like in the pattern cabinet for Baby Plush. I need them to be quick and easy as I’m so time poor these days, but I still want to make pretty things for my baby girl. There’s no point having all of these beautiful fabrics surrounding my day if I can’t indulge now is there?!
This dress is the Butterick B5776 branded “Easy”, and it was. I only made 1 minor change to the pattern, I didn’t add elastic to the sleeves (mainly because Baby Plush was in bed and I needed to measure her arms with the elastic and I desperately wanted to finish it to save another item from being added to the UFO pile) but I like the look without.
I LOVE this pattern and will definitely be using it again, it only took about 2 hours start to finish and I just adore the peasant girl look of this dress. I think you could also add elastic to the hem as well as the sleeves for a cute bubble effect. Best still I know it’ll last through to next year as this style will make a great top too.
It only took 60cm of fabric to make the main part of the dress and the sleeves came out of a fat quarter and I have fabric to spare to make the cute bag also included in the pattern.
I’m really chuffed with how it came out and can see me whipping up a few more of these in the not to distant future…. Now which fabrics shall be next?!
