There’s never a dull moment over at Plush Towers. I write with big news – we’re on the move! Unfortunately the time in our Edenbridge warehouse has come to an end, we’ve looked for commercial premises within the vicinity and there is very little currently available, and what there is isn’t suitable or is twice the price we’re used to. Did you see? Did you see?! The lovely Lynne Goldsworthy from Lily’s Quilts has a new book out this week and we have a signed copy to give away for one lucky reader, whoop!
I love the idea behind this book, I mean who doesn’t want to whip up a quilt that’s quick and easy? If you’re not familiar with Lynne’s work, this is her second quilting book, her first book was the fantastic 500 Quilt Blocks: The Only Quilt Block Compendium You’ll Ever Need co- written with Kerry Green from Very Kerry Berry. As well as being a published author Lynne designs many of the free quilt patterns from Makower and also helps out Dashwood Studio with their quilting needs so really she’s a bit of a quilting rock star. The Flurry range from Dashwood Studios has become a firm stock staple for many of you and what’s not to like? It’s a fun, contemporary supporting print in some gorgeous colours. We’ve been asked to colour match Dashwood Studios Flurry with Kona a few times now so we’ve linked the two collections on the website as “Related Products” but I thought I’d list them here for anyone to stumble upon. Boy, am I happy I stumbled upon Compagnie M. patterns a couple of months ago. I was looking for a new dress pattern for Littlest Plush and I wanted something funky, with some cute details and preferably with pockets as she does love a spot of treasure collection throughout the day (too cute). I was SO happy when I discovered Compagnie M’s patterns and instantly fell in love with the Louisa Dress, I mean – look at the pretty piping! And the pockets! I was smitten, a new girl crush was born and I immediately snapped up a PDF pattern of the Louisa dress (and a few more besides. Marte’s, the brains behind Compagnie M, has drafted some very amazing contemporary patterns.) Continue reading “Giveaway: Win Compagnie M. Louisa Dress Pattern Plus Fabric!”

Well this past week has been a bit of a whirlwind of highs and lows at Plush Towers. The low is that our heating in the warehouse has broken and it’s been close to arctic. We’re still in hats, gloves and scarves and hoping that Mr British Gas is true to his word and gets us warmed up again TODAY (cross your fingers, or send us a blanket?) but I must say that icicles aside I’ve been riding high on the news that we came away with a few gongs from the 2014 British Sewing Awards. It is with a spring in my step and a big cheesy grin that I can say with delight that Katy Jones will be joining us at our next weekend open day on 6th December!
Let me explain why I’m so excited…. Katy has got quite a number of impressive achievements under her belt, first off she pens her fabulous blog I’m a Ginger Monkey, she’s co-written a couple of books and contributed to many more quilting titles, she’s has her own TV series Quilt Monkey for the Quilter’s Network, she’s Editor of Quilt Now Magazine and if that’s not enough of an impressive résumé she’s just designed her debut fabric collection “Priory Square” for Art Gallery Fabrics which is released later this month. Continue reading “Come And Meet Katy Jones At Our Next Open Day!”
If you’ve been to one of our open days you’ll know that we like to lay on some refreshments and always have tea, coffee and some lovely cakes for you to nibble on. We know people can travel quite a distance to see us and we also know it’s always very welcome to get a brew when you arrive. Everybody is rather glad of the hospitality but so many people are surprised that it’s free and it’s been suggested that we should have a charity box so people can make a donation if they wish.
