We have been rolling out a series of improvements to the website over the past couple of months and I just wanted to let you know about one in particular because I think it’s rather splendid. We’ve added a “Zoom” option to all the website photos when you’re looking at a category or search results page. So what? You might think, well it means you can enlarge any fabric to see it up close and check out more detail without having to click in and out of the product itself. This will save you lots of clicks as you’re browsing plus if you like what you see you can pop it in your basket from that very same window – result! This then leaves you within your search results to carry on shopping.
The other enhancement that you might find handy is that we’ve now added “width” as a filter on the left hand side so if you’re looking for a wider fabric they are now much easier to find.
We have lots more enhancements planned for this year but if you have anything you would like to see, do let us know as we’re always keen to hear how we can make the site a better place to hang out.
I think Ann Kelle’s Monkeys Royal was one of the very first quilt cotton fabrics we stocked, and we still carry it today. “Urban Zoologie” has been a hugely popular collection for us and it’s back, this time a bit smaller, and in my opinion even cuter! The colour palettes have been reworked and I have to say that I’m totally in love with the pink colourway which is contrasted with a soft grey and has a hint of mint (rhyme intended). There are more animals too choose from and some old favourites too. There’s a selection of multicoloured cuties including adorable foxes, chicks, monkeys and owls.
Browse the full collection here and we’ve put together a couple of fat quarter bundles for you too.
Do you have a favourite? I think I’m a little bit in love with the pink elephants.
Hello friends! I thought I’d try a few new different features on the blog this year including some sneaky peek photos of upcoming fabrics. I keep forgetting to actually take the photos of the cards when reps come to see me but I’m going to try *much* harder at getting the camera out for your viewing pleasure. I’ve already placed orders for a lot of Christmas and Halloween fabrics, most of which was done last year (bonkers, hey?) and first up are some Riley Blake fabrics which are due out at various times later this year. We haven’t uploaded anything in to Coming Soon section for ages (there just isn’t enough hours in the day sometimes) but I’m really hoping we can get fabrics up in a more timely manner so you can see properly what’s due ahead of time and plan your shopping accordingly! So without further a-do….

I was absolutely delighted that we were nominated this year in a cracking THREE categories in Sew Magazine’s British Sewing Awards 2014. We’ve been nominated for
- Best online retailer
- Best for customer service
- Best sewing blog
To be honest there are far more deserving winners in the blog category but I will be soooo chuffed if we feature in either Best online retailer or Best for customer service. If you think we deserve it then please vote for us! You might also win £250 of goodies for your trouble, it’s just a few clicks.
Voting closes tomorrow (Sunday 11th January) and you can vote here (and just enter n/a to any questions about your favourite haberdashery in Wales – unless you live in Wales of course)

It is with a spring in my step and a big cheesy grin that I can say with delight that Katy Jones will be joining us at our next weekend open day on 6th December!
Let me explain why I’m so excited…. Katy has got quite a number of impressive achievements under her belt, first off she pens her fabulous blog I’m a Ginger Monkey, she’s co-written a couple of books and contributed to many more quilting titles, she’s has her own TV series Quilt Monkey for the Quilter’s Network, she’s Editor of Quilt Now Magazine and if that’s not enough of an impressive résumé she’s just designed her debut fabric collection “Priory Square” for Art Gallery Fabrics which is released later this month. A very chuffed Plushette here once again to let you know that I’m in Sewing World Magazine again this month talking about waterproof fabrics. It’s another jam-packed issue I am finding the Vilene series in particular very informative indeed and there’s also an excerpt from Lauren Guthrie’s new book too which is a tutorial on how to make a big weekend bag.
This is my third article for Sewing World (eeek!), you can read about the two here and here. Don’t forget there’s a discounted subscription offer available for Plush Addict customers. You can get a 12 month subscription for only £39.99 (that’s a saving of £19.89) use the code PLUSH14 at check out here. Grab yourself a copy and sit down for a good read with a cuppa, I’m in the “Techniques” section. You can also get your mitts on this magazine at WH Smiths.
Next month is the last in the series and I’ll be writing about natural alternative sustainable fabrics. I’ve really enjoyed writing this series and I’m looking forward to doing a bit more writing in the New Year once the Christmas mayhem has subsided at Plush Towers a little. I hope you enjoy it!
We’re expecting a bumper delivery of fabrics over the next few weeks and we need to clear some space so we’re having a mid season clearance! Save 20% on selected lines until midnight Sunday 2nd November.

If you’ve been to one of our open days you’ll know that we like to lay on some refreshments and always have tea, coffee and some lovely cakes for you to nibble on. We know people can travel quite a distance to see us and we also know it’s always very welcome to get a brew when you arrive. Everybody is rather glad of the hospitality but so many people are surprised that it’s free and it’s been suggested that we should have a charity box so people can make a donation if they wish. Well I must say I feel incredibly honoured to have my mitts on one of the early copies of this book Craft A Creative Business. If you love to sew and you’re not familiar with Fiona Pullen then you really should be! She is the brains behind The Sewing Directory, a wonderfully content rich sewing related website.
