We have been rolling out a series of improvements to the website over the past couple of months and I just wanted to let you know about one in particular because I think it’s rather splendid. We’ve added a “Zoom” option to all the website photos when you’re looking at a category or search results page. So what? You might think, well it means you can enlarge any fabric to see it up close and check out more detail without having to click in and out of the product itself. This will save you lots of clicks as you’re browsing plus if you like what you see you can pop it in your basket from that very same window – result! This then leaves you within your search results to carry on shopping.
The other enhancement that you might find handy is that we’ve now added “width” as a filter on the left hand side so if you’re looking for a wider fabric they are now much easier to find.
We have lots more enhancements planned for this year but if you have anything you would like to see, do let us know as we’re always keen to hear how we can make the site a better place to hang out.
I think Ann Kelle’s Monkeys Royal was one of the very first quilt cotton fabrics we stocked, and we still carry it today. “Urban Zoologie” has been a hugely popular collection for us and it’s back, this time a bit smaller, and in my opinion even cuter! The colour palettes have been reworked and I have to say that I’m totally in love with the pink colourway which is contrasted with a soft grey and has a hint of mint (rhyme intended). There are more animals too choose from and some old favourites too. There’s a selection of multicoloured cuties including adorable foxes, chicks, monkeys and owls.
To be honest there are far more deserving winners in the blog category but I will be soooo chuffed if we feature in either Best online retailer or Best for customer service. If you think we deserve it then please vote for us! You might also win £250 of goodies for your trouble, it’s just a few clicks.
Voting closes tomorrow (Sunday 11th January) and you can vote here (and just enter n/a to any questions about your favourite haberdashery in Wales – unless you live in Wales of course)
Yes that’s right, we’re on the move! For ages lots of people have been saying we should get out and about to some the quilt shows and to be honest it’s always made my head hurt. I mean, how do you condense a 7,000 sq ft warehouse in to a van? What would we take? How much fabric would we need? Will I have to drive a van?! All these questions and many more have circulated in my head for quite some time but last year we decided the time had finally come to get mobile. We’re staying quite close to home with our L plates on for our maiden voyage as Ardingly is only 30 minutes from where we’re based and will mean we can pop back if we’ve forgotten anything drastic.
We’ll be attending some more shows later this year, we’re just finalising the details but keep an eye out on this page for where else Team Plush will be popping up. Nerves aside, the one thing I’m very much looking forward to is meeting lots of fellow fabric addicts and sewing enthusiasts. I do so love our open days where we get to meet and chat to people.
It’s been quite daunting working out the details and I hope we’ve not missed anything. I’m sure when we’ve got a show under our belt I’ll feel a bit more settled about it all but until then we’ve been playing mini shop in a quiet corner of the warehouse and have set up mock up of our first stand, now all we need to do is fill up the shelves and hope my mental arithmetic improves before then!
Wish us luck and do pop by and say hello if you are attending.
If you’ve been to one of our open days you’ll know that we like to lay on some refreshments and always have tea, coffee and some lovely cakes for you to nibble on. We know people can travel quite a distance to see us and we also know it’s always very welcome to get a brew when you arrive. Everybody is rather glad of the hospitality but so many people are surprised that it’s free and it’s been suggested that we should have a charity box so people can make a donation if they wish. Well it’s been a while since I penned anything for the blog, these past few months have been a whirlwind of activity here at Plush Towers. I can assure you I’ve been as busy as a busy thing and I’ve just not had time to sit down to write anything, but I’ve not been resting on my laurels. There are lots of things going on that I’m not quite ready to share with you yet but I hope today’s post will show you I’ve been beavering away in the background and not slacking off, oh no sirree.
