Child’s Skirt Tutorial: Part One Making And Inserting Piping

Wow it seems like a mighty long time since I sat and tapped at the keyboard in a blogging kind of way. There’s been tons of stuff going on behind the scenes at Plush Towers so even though I’ve got a few blog posts in the “planning” stages getting them over the finishing line has been a challenge of late. I can report I have made headway on a UFO <gasp!>! It’s still not finished but hey, Rome wasn’t built in a day.

Well I’m here now and so is Spring! I can’t tell you how uplifted I am that it’s light when we leave in the mornings these days, and then again when we arrive home. I thought I’d give you a gratuitous Spring picture to brighten your day… Magnolias are so amazing. I’m lucky enough to see this one in it’s full glory every day at the moment. Enjoy any that are close to you, they are gone so quickly.

10 Minute No Sew Fabric Covered Mouse Mat Tutorial

I recently ordered some rather drab mouse mats from our stationery supplier, they are made of recycled car tyres so I felt rather virtuous purchasing recycled and all that, but they were *so* boring and not the least bit pretty so I decided to get busy and cover them with some of our *very* pretty fabric. It was the simplest thing and literally took less than 10 minutes to complete and you don’t even need the sewing machine. Continue reading “10 Minute No Sew Fabric Covered Mouse Mat Tutorial”

Ripstop Welly Wet Bag Tutorial

DSC_0275Well the wintry weather is definitely here and out come the wellies! All this rain = lots of mud, bah. Baby Plush has been having a whale of a time in the puddles in her wellies, and our doglet has enjoyed his muddy walks in the wood I got a tad tired of the mud coming off everywhere it shouldn’t be so I decided to knock up a wet bag made from ripstop for Baby Plush’s wellies.  It’s been great! How To Attach A Rib Knit Waist Band

rib-skirtWe recently took delivery of some cotton elastane rib knit at Plush Towers and I’m a little bit in love with it. It’s such a great alternative to elastic and I think it looks much more professional. Continue reading “How To Attach A Rib Knit Waist Band”

Sew Your Own Appliquéd Christmas Bunting Tutorial

DSC_0041

Deck the halls with boughs of holly, tra la la la! It feels like it’s been Christmas for months at Plush Towers, our Christmas sales seems to start quite steadily in March for some of you early birds but as I adore Christmas amazingly I’m not sick of it yet. I decided we needed some festive bunting for our next open day so set to work designing some Christmas appliqués and thought it’d be rude not to put together a tutorial.

Crayon Roll Tutorial

Image

Baby Plush has recently got into drawing in a big way, apart from being irresistibly cute toddling around insisting she put crayon to paper it’s amazing how it can keep her occupied, quiet and still for such a long time and she’s not yet even 2. Always one to jump on any opportunity for 5 minutes of peace and quiet I figured it’d be silly not to make her a crayon roll which I can just pop in my bag when we are out and about and so far it’s a huge hit. 20 Minute Peg Bag Tutorial

peg-bag

I have no idea why I keep doing laundry related tutorials seeings as I hate the task so much but it  just keeps happening so I’ll roll with it. Inspired by Makower’s new fabric collection which goes by the name of “Wash Day” I’m a complete sucker for anything kitschy and retro so I decided I needed this fabric to cheer me on through the dull laundry days. And this really did only take 20 minutes to put together, hooray!  Continue reading “20 Minute Peg Bag Tutorial”

Ironing Board Re-cover Tutorial

ImageMy ironing board has been looking rather sad and sorry for itself for a while now and it’s been in the back of my head to recover it in some funky fabric, then when Mr Plush informed me that our current ironing board cover was made by the same company which have caused us such a headache over the word minky I decided urgent action was needed! (For some of the back story see this post. The iron-y (boom boom!) that we have one of their covers Continue reading “Ironing Board Re-cover Tutorial”
